Stress Engineer | Naval Defence | 3-Year Fixed-Term Contract

Ready to take on complex engineering challenges where your analysis will have a real impact?

We’re looking for a Stress Engineer to join a specialist Naval engineering team, supporting high-profile UK defence projects and working alongside experienced engineers across mechanical integrity, design and simulation.

You’ll use advanced analytical and finite element techniques to assess components against fatigue, buckling, plastic collapse, shock loading, vibration, heat transfer and more.

What you’ll be doing :
  • Building detailed FE models from CAD assemblies
  • Carrying out structural, fatigue and thermal analysis
  • Assessing components for operational and shock loads
  • Supporting weld design and strength assessments
  • Identifying design improvements through analysis
  • Producing clear technical reports and presentations
  • Contributing to design reviews and customer meetings
What we’re looking for:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience analysing mechanical components

Strong FEA knowledge, ideally using ANSYS
  • Understanding of engineering codes such as ASME or DNV
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment or turbines
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Chartered status, or working towards it, would be beneficial
  • Rotor dynamics experience would be a real advantage

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on technically demanding naval projects, gain exposure to advanced simulation tools and play a visible role in the delivery of complex engineering solutions.

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must hold a UK passport and be able to obtain SC security clearance.

Dual nationals may be considered where the second nationality is accepted by the relevant vetting authority.
