Job Description Summary

The Mechanical Specialist will lead and deliver CAPEX projects on‑site, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required standards. This role involves acting as the primary liaison for contractor projects, ensuring compliance with GE standards and industry regulations. The expert will oversee lifting systems, implement best practices, and manage predictive maintenance regimes using condition monitoring technologies.

Integrating Industry
4.0 techniques into mechanical systems is also crucial. Ensuring all mechanical operations adhere to safety and regulatory requirements, providing technical expertise and training, and conducting regular audits. Hands‑on mechanical tasks, including troubleshooting and repairs, will be performed as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership and Delivery: Lead and deliver CAPEX projects on site, serving as the primary mechanical expert. Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required standards. Provide regular updates on project status, challenges and successes. Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for all mechanical projects.
  • Contractor Liaison: Act as the intermediary for on‑site contractor projects between GE and external contractors. Ensure all projects comply with GE standards and industry regulations.
  • Lifting Systems Management: Oversee all lifting systems on site to ensure robust processes and compliance with safety standards. Implement and maintain best practices for lifting operation in accordance with LEEA.
  • Predictive Maintenance and Industry 4.0 Integration: Manage site maintenance and predictive maintenance regimes and programs. Utilize condition monitoring technologies (e.g. vibration analysis, thermal imaging) to predict and prevent equipment failures. Integrate Industry
    4.0 techniques into mechanical systems and processes.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all mechanical operations adhere to site safety and regulatory requirements. Provide technical expertise and training to onsite staff and contractors. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks. SAP knowledge for documentation control is required.
  • Hands‑On Mechanical Work: Perform hands‑on mechanical tasks as required, including troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Supporting site breakdowns and issues.
Qualifications
  • Advanced experience in Manufacturing & Equipment Maintenance.
  • Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Apprentice Trained.
  • Permanent UK Work Permit Desired.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, market and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
