Finance Manager - SME

Key Responsibilities Operational Finance Delivery

• Completion of monthly management accounts alongside the Finance Director
• Ensure accurate reporting of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
• Oversee budgeting, rolling forecasts, and fixed asset management (including depreciation and asset creation/disposal on ERP systems such as SAP)
• Supervise transactional finance (AP/AR/payroll) and month-end close processes

• Enhance internal controls and reporting systems
• Support year-end audit completion
• Ensure VAT, tax, and regulatory compliance
• Monitor and mitigate financial risks

• Prepare detailed financial analysis to drive decision-making
• Assist in forecasting meetings and refine processes for greater accuracy
• Understand key business drivers to provide proactive advisory support

• Manage and develop the finance team through mentoring, process discipline, and systems improvement
• Embed automation where possible and ensure scalable operations to support business growth

• Collaborate with department heads, providing analytical insights and technical expertise
• Support spending and margin analysis to ensure profitability
• Stay informed on market, competitor, and industry trends to prepare the team for new challenges

• Act as a key member of the leadership team, partnering across functions to maximise organisational performance

• A degree-level education with a professional accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA)
• Ideally previously operated at Management Accountant level or similar
• Proven track record as part of a general management team in a business environment
• Extensive experience in ERP systems, particularly SAP
• Commercial understanding with strong analytical and advisory skills
• A proven ability to balance hands-on operational delivery with strategic thinking
• Evidence of driving system improvements and automation

£60,000 Basic salary plus full benefits package, On site working
