We’re now looking for a Transport First Line Manager to take the helm of our daily transport operations!

What you’ll do- Lead the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring all activities are delivered safely, efficiently and compliantly.
- Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence (O‑Licence) requirements and transport legislation.
- Manage driver performance, engagement and wellbeing through regular communication, coaching and structured one‑to‑one meetings.
- Ensure all drivers have the appropriate training, tools and support to perform their roles successfully.
- Monitor vehicle compliance, ensuring defects are reported and resolved promptly.
- Drive a strong safety culture by maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and compliance.
- Develop, motivate and inspire your team to achieve operational and customer excellence.
- Analyse operational performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Work closely with colleagues and utilise Waitrose WMS and transport systems to support operational success.
- A positive, proactive leadership style with the ability to engage and motivate teams.
- Experience in a transport, logistics or operational leadership role is desirable.
- Strong coaching, mentoring and people management skills.
- Excellent organisational, planning and problem‑solving abilities.
- A hands‑on approach with a willingness to support the operation when required.
- Good IT skills, including experience with WMS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- A commitment to delivering high standards of service, safety and compliance.
