Overview

The Process Engineer, as part of the site’s Manufacturing Team, is responsible for maintaining and optimising manufacturing master data and process standards to support efficient production and the transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365. This includes updating and validating production routings within the IFS ERP system, maintaining accurate engineering drawings using Solid Works, and identifying opportunities to improve existing processes.

The role requires strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment between shop floor practices and system data. Working closely with the Continuous Improvement Lead and Cell Supervisors, the Process Engineer will support production performance, drive standardisation, and help establish a robust data and process foundation ahead of the D365 implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately define, set up, and update production routings with correct operation sequences, work centres, and standard times.
  • Ensure alignment between physical shop floor processes and system configuration.
  • Own the integrity of bill of materials (BOMs), routings, and master data to support planning, costing, and execution.
  • Continuously review and optimise routings to reflect best practices, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve flow.
  • Partner with Production and Planning to ensure routings support realistic capacity planning and scheduling.
  • Develop, standardise, and maintain detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Translate engineering and process requirements into clear, operator-friendly documentation.
  • Ensure consistency between documented processes and actual shop floor execution.
  • Conduct detailed time studies to establish and validate standard labour times.
  • Use methodologies such as Time and motion study to analyse operator efficiency and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain and update standard times within ERP systems to ensure accurate costing and planning.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to ensure labour standards reflect actual performance and drive accountability.
  • Identify and eliminate non‑value‑added activities to improve productivity.
  • Lead initiatives to clean, structure, and standardise manufacturing data (BOMs, routings, work centres, inventory parameters).
  • Identify inconsistencies between system data and real‑world operations and drive corrective actions.
  • Improve data governance practices to ensure ongoing data accuracy and ownership.
  • Support ERP implementations or transformations by validating and migrating clean, reliable data.
  • Enable better decision‑making by improving data quality for KPIs such as OEE, capacity utilisation, and cost performance.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Process, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineer role.
  • Hands‑on experience maintaining and improving production routings, BOMs, and manufacturing master data within an ERP system (preferably IFS, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or SAP).
  • Proven experience conducting time studies, setting labour standards, and translating shop floor activities into system data.
  • Experience creating and maintaining work instructions, SOPs, and standard work aligned with actual production processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform data clean‑up, validation, and governance for manufacturing data (routings, work centres, item masters).
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or data migration activities is highly desirable.
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, assembly, fabrication, or similar discrete manufacturing environments).
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as Solid Works for drawing updates and interpretation.
  • Familiarity with production planning, capacity modelling, and cost structures within ERP systems.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
