Introduction
The Sheet metal Apprentice supports the fabrication and assembly of sheet metal components by learning and developing trade skills under the guidance of qualified tradespeople.

What You ll Do- Ensure compliance with all WHS policies as outlined in the HR Manual and Employment Policy guide
- Participate and contribute in all WHS Toolbox meetings
- Participate in department WHS, Fire and Evacuation and Emergency training
- Demonstrate a high degree of safety awareness
- Actively participate in all structured and on-the-job training
- Seek feedback and guidance from supervisors and tradespeople
- Complete assigned training tasks and assessments on time
- Show initiative in learning about machinery, materials, and fabrication processes
- Assist tradespeople with sheet metal fabrication tasks, including measuring, cutting, and forming materials
- Operate basic sheet metal tools and machinery under supervision (e.g., guillotine, brake press, pan brake)
- Read and interpret basic work orders and drawings, with guidance
- Perform visual inspections of completed work for quality and accuracy
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S practices
- Report material usage, waste, or issues to supervisors
- Participate in team discussions regarding daily work schedules and priorities
- Assist with tool maintenance and machinery cleaning
- Follow end-of-day procedures, including shutdown protocols
- Monitor and assist with material storage and stock control under supervision
- Assist with general manufacturing tasks
