Dive into a world of opportunity and join our team!

Anglian Water has a holistic approach when it comes to security, protecting its staff and assets. Our Physical Security team plays a vital role in protecting Anglian Water’s operational sites, both water treatment works and water recycling centres. As a Security Risk Assessor, you’ll help safeguard essential infrastructure, ensuring our assets meet the Security & Emergency Measures Direction (SEMD) requirements and national protective security standards.

This is a hands‑on, field‑based role where no two days are the same. You’ll travel across the region conducting physical and electronic security inspections, gathering information which will require you to work closely with operational teams. We operate a hybrid working model for this position which will allow you to work flexibly between field, home and your local office. You’ll have opportunities to further your knowledge of the water industry and regulations.

Your assessments will directly contribute to our security risk management programme and help shape future investment decisions. Full training and support will be provided throughout your time in the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed physical and electronic security assessments at operational assets, following core physical security principles.
  • Gather, record, and maintain accurate, auditable records and details across a wide range of assets.
  • Work closely with the Security Manager and Senior Security Risk Assessor to develop future programmes of work and financial plans.
  • Contribute to the development of the Security Risk Management process and overall security programme of work.
  • Be part of the wider Security team reviewing and keeping track of security risks.
  • Be involved in the SEMD Engineering and design requirements.
  • Support the creation of business cases and investment requirements by providing high‑quality compliance reporting and technical insight.
  • Promote and model a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring safe working practices, compliance with monitoring requirements, and proactive reporting of near misses.
Key Skills & Behaviours
  • Experience working within a risk management environment, with strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical standards.
  • Ability to plan and organise schedules of work, optimising your day.
  • Engineering and security awareness relating to operational infrastructure or non‑infrastructure assets will be an advantage.
  • Strong Office 365 and digital skills, including the use of project management tools to maintain accurate records.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to build constructive relationships across Water, Water Recycling, Asset Delivery, and partner teams.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset — someone who suggests solutions, embraces continuous improvement, and works openly with colleagues.
  • A full UK driving licence and the willingness to travel extensively across the region.
As a valued employee you’ll be entitled to:
  • A competitive pension scheme where we double‑match your contributions up to 6%
  • Private healthcare for your peace of mind
  • An annual bonus scheme
  • Company van
  • The opportunity to volunteer in your local community
  • 25 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays), increasing with service — with the option to swap Christmas and Easter for religious holidays
  • Life cover (8x salary) and personal accident cover (up to 5x salary)
  • Flexible benefits to support your well‑being and lifestyle
  • Paid time off for physical and mental health
  • Free parking at all office locations, sites, and leisure parks
  • Excellent family‑friendly policies, including 26 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and 4 weeks paternity/partner pay, with access to shared parental leave

Closing Date: 4th March 2026
