Northwood College for Girls is seeking a talented, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Head of Physics or Teacher of Physics to teach students from KS3 through to A Level.
We are looking for an individual who will communicate their enjoyment of the subject, maintain the highest academic standards and inspire a genuine passion for science and its relevance in today’s world.
You will deliver engaging and stimulating Physics lessons across KS3, GCSE and A Level, with the potential to teach STEM classes throughout the school. A commitment to contributing to the wider life of the school is also expected.
For Head of Physics applicants, the role requires an energetic and visionary leader capable of steering our dynamic Physics Department. Working closely with the Director of Science, you will shape and deliver the science curriculum from KS3 through to KS5.
As an engaging and impactful teacher, you will lead by example, develop a rigorous and stimulating curriculum, and collaborate with departmental colleagues and the wider Science Department. The ability to teach a second science subject at KS3 is advantageous but not essential.
This position covers a maternity absence for a minimum of two terms and is open to candidates seeking either full‑time or part‑time (0.8) employment.
DepartmentThis is an exciting time to join or lead our Science Department. We have a newly opened Science building (The Alvarium) with state‑of‑the‑art labs, a dedicated Maker Space lab with 3D printers and a laser cutter, and a Junior School Science Lab. Our students have achieved notable successes in competitions such as TfL Innovate, Young Imagineers, Royal Society’s Biology and Chemistry Olympiads, and we offer a GDST Space Technology Diploma.
Our Physics Department has also led trips to Switzerland to visit CERN.
