SEND Tutor & Learning Mentor (Alternative Provision)
Locations:
Ruislip, Hillingdon & surrounding areas.
Immediate work is available with ongoing opportunities throughout the academic year, with substantial growth expected from September 2026.

Roles OverviewAs a 1:1 SEND Tutor and Learning Mentor, you will support children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education. Working on a one-to-one basis, you will provide personalised tuition, mentoring and learning support to help students build confidence, engage with education, and achieve positive outcomes.
Students may be primary or secondary age and present with needs including Autism, SEMH, anxiety, EBSA, trauma‑related difficulties, medical needs and other barriers to learning.
Support is typically delivered within students’ homes, with parents or carers present, although some students may access support in community settings or as part of a transition back into education.
Responsibilities- Delivering personalised 1:1 SEND tuition and support
- Providing mentoring and emotional support
- Building positive relationships with students and families
- Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
- Recording progress and providing feedback
- Teaching Assistant (TA)
- Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
- SEND Support Worker
- Learning Mentor
- Behaviour Mentor
- Youth Worker
- Tutor
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach
- Confidence working independently on a 1:1 basis
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and positive outcomes
- Immediate and ongoing work available
