Quantity Surveyor - Overhead Lines

Are you a Quantity Surveyor  looking to develop your career within the growing Transmission & Distribution sector?

You will have the opportunity to take commercial ownership of technically interesting overhead line projects, work within a long term framework and play a key role in the successful delivery of essential electricity infrastructure.

My client is an established contractor delivering projects across the Transmission and Distribution sector and is looking for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to join its team near Runcorn. You will support projects from contract award through to final account, working closely with project, operational and commercial teams.

What you will be doing

As a Quantity Surveyor , you will take responsibility for the commercial and contractual management of overhead line projects, helping to ensure they are delivered efficiently and achieve strong commercial outcomes.

You will:

Take ownership of project cost management, producing accurate forecasts and maintaining clear visibility of commercial performance.
Manage variations and change, ensuring commercial impacts are identified, assessed and addressed effectively.
Work alongside project teams to identify commercial risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
Prepare and manage Cost to Complete forecasts and Cost Value Reconciliations, ensuring financial reporting remains accurate and up to date.
Manage subcontractor packages from procurement and appointment through to payment, account management and final settlement
Provide practical commercial and contractual guidance to project managers and operational teams.
Develop effective working relationships with client representatives, colleagues and supply chain partners.
Support the resolution of contractual and commercial matters before they escalate into formal disputes.
Ensure effective communication between commercial, operational and project delivery teams.
Support tendering and pre-construction activity while contributing to the development of the wider commercial team.

You will ideally have:

Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within utilities, power, energy, infrastructure or civil engineering.
Strong commercial awareness and a good understanding of cost control, forecasting and contract management.
Experience managing subcontractor accounts, variations and commercial change.
The ability to communicate effectively with commercial, operational, project and client teams.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing commercial priorities.

Experience with in overhead lines, electricity distribution or transmission would be advantageous. However, you will also be considered if you can demonstrate strong transferable commercial experience from another utilities or infrastructure environment.

Your package

You will receive a salary of £40,000 - £60,000, dependent on experience, alongside a company car or car allowance.
You will also benefit from the opportunity to build your commercial experience within the power and utilities sector, take greater ownership of project delivery and develop your career within a long-term framework environment.

You will be based near Runcorn and will work as part of an established project and commercial team.
