Position: SEN KS1 Teaching Assistant: 1:1 Support for GLD Pupil

Desian Education are proud to be supporting a single-form entry primary school in Runcorn that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking for an experienced and motivated teaching assistant to join their team from September on a full-time temporary basis. This small yet family orientated school have a year 1 pupil that has GLD (global delay disorder) and behavioural needs that requires additional 1:1 support throughout the day.

This is an extremely rewarding position where you will play a vital role in the education of an extremely loving young pupil.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school you will be joining an extremely welcoming KS1 cohort, playing a vital role in the education and development of a male pupil within the year 1 class. You will be their main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school day, walking them back to their grown up at the end of the day, and giving feedback on their progress.

This male pupil is an extremely loving individual but due to having GLD, they are not able to access the curriculum and present behavioural challenges. As they have the capacity of a 3-year-old, they find it extremely difficult to regulate their emotions. To support their development, you will:

  • Use positive behaviour strategies to support social skills and behaviours
  • Deliver interventions in line with the EYFS national curriculum
  • Integrate into new pupil groups
  • Work in collaboration with external professionals
Full Right to Work in the UK
  • Being NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualified is advantageous but not essential
  • Have relevant referenceable classroom experience, EYFS and KS1 experience is essential
  • Have experience supporting SEN
  • An Enhanced Children's DBS certificate or willingness to obtain
