Teaching Assistant
LocationRuncorn, Halton
Job DescriptionOur client, a supportive and nurturing school in Runcorn is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a safe and inclusive environment, supporting pupils with complex needs from ages 5 to 18. The school is committed to fostering emotional wellbeing and personal growth alongside academic progress.
Key Responsibilities- Mentoring and supporting individual pupils or small groups of up to six pupils
- Assisting classroom teachers during lessons and activities
- Reporting on pupils’ progress and liaising with staff to meet pupils’ needs
- Supervising pupils during non-classroom times, including extracurricular activities and trips
- Supporting lesson planning, classroom preparation, and marking
- Building positive relationships with pupils to promote engagement and learning outcomes
- Taking additional responsibility in areas such as lunchtime supervision, school trips, or extracurricular activities
- A strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics
- Previous experience in a similar role, particularly working with pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
- Confidence in behaviour management techniques and classroom support
- Experience of working with children in an educational setting
- A commitment to professional development and learning
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (cost covered by the employer)
