Heidelberg Materials is looking for a committed and safety‑focused Asphalt Plant Operative to join our team. This is a hands‑on role at the heart of our operation, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable production of high‑quality asphalt materials that support essential infrastructure and construction projects. • Operating asphalt plant equipment safely and efficiently to meet production requirements.
• Planning production activities in line with customer demand and plant capability.
• Managing plant start‑up and shut‑down procedures to maximise operational efficiency.
• Conducting routine inspections and monitoring plant performance.
• Carrying out maintenance and minor repairs within your level of competence.
• Operating mobile plant equipment, including Front‑End Loaders (FEL) and dumpers where required.
• Refuelling, greasing, cleaning, and maintaining plant equipment in line with manufacturer and company standards.
• Completing daily inspection records and operational documentation accurately.
• Reporting defects, breakdowns, and maintenance requirements to site management.
• Supporting a proactive safety culture through near‑miss reporting and hazard identification.
• Operating machinery in an energy‑efficient and environmentally responsible manner.
• Supporting operations at other Heidelberg Materials sites when required within a reasonable travelling distance.

• Experience working within an industrial, manufacturing, quarrying, aggregates, asphalt, or heavy plant environment.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good practical problem‑solving and maintenance skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Reliable with excellent time‑keeping and attendance.

• Good general standard of education.
• EPIC certification to operate mobile plant equipment.
• NVQ Level 2 in Mobile Plant Operations (following EPIC completion).
• Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and Quarry Regulations.
