Position: Registered Dietitian -FT- Outpatient Services

Job Summary

Dietitians and nutritionists are experts in food and nutrition. Creates nutrition plans to improve the health and physical conditions of patients in advising people on what to eat in order to lead a healthy lifestyle or achieve a specific health-related goal.

Hours anticipated (30-40 hours per week) with flexible schedule to accommodate patients needs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assess patients’ and clients’ health needs and diet.
  • Counsel patients on nutrition issues and healthy eating habits.
  • Develop meal plans, taking both cost and clients’ preferences into account.
  • Evaluate the effects of meal plans and change the plans as needed.
  • Continuously monitor the patient’s progress and will update their nutrition plan accordingly.
  • Determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and monitoring/evaluation.
  • May conduct nutrition-focused physical examinations to support nutrition diagnosis, make referrals to others within and outside the organization as necessary, or order/change therapeutic diets and supplements.
  • Promote better nutrition by speaking to groups about diet, nutrition, and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases.
  • Keep up with the latest nutritional science research.
  • Developing and coordinating a dietary plan of treatment with the patient's treating physician and other health care personnel.
  • Preparing and retaining clinical progress notes and reports on the patient related to the patient’s dietary needs.
  • Appropriate submission of a summary of patients seen and treatment provided at the end of each week for such patients.
  • Abide by and conform to policies and procedures of Minidoka Memorial Hospital (MMH), as well as Medicaid and Medicare rules and regulations.
  • Provide dietary services as needed by patients of MMH.
  • Cooperate with MMH in developing and participating in in-service programs at MMH.
  • Provide to MMH all notes, reports, summaries and other documentation related to patient dietary services during the term of agreement.
  • Comply with all statutory requirements governing the maintenance of documentation, and any written regulations for the purpose of compliance with Section 1861 (v) (1) (1) of the Social Security Act as amended, as well as all HIPAA requirements related to patient confidentiality.
  • Attend staff meetings, EAC meetings, and community events as directed by Administration.
  • Actively engage in quality improvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field
  • 2 years’ experience as a Dietitian
  • Registered Dietitian in the State of Idaho
  • CDCES Certification to be completed on a determined timeline upon hire
Preferred Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited educational institution
  • 3 years’ experience as a clinic dietitian in a hospital setting
  • Current CDCES certification

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate articulately and efficiently with other people within the company.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Physical Requirements

Perceive the nature of sounds by the ear, express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word, perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes, extend arms and hands in any direction, seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands, pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers, perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Continuous sitting. Must be able to identify, match, and distinguish colors.
