Overview
Machine Test Engineer - Machinery and Fluid Automation Testing — Rushden, Northamptonshire. Monday to Friday (start time between 7:00 and 9:00; 8‑hour day). Permanent opportunity. Salary – Negotiable depending on experience.
Role OverviewWe are seeking a hands‑on, detail‑driven Machine Test Engineer to join our client2s small but busy test team. You will perform various tests on advanced 2‑component mixing and dosing machinery prior to shipment to customers worldwide. Your testing work will help ensure maximum performance, machine quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction, and you will support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Run the required tests on all machinery manufactured.
- Verify machine functionality, process performance, and safety systems.
- Validate dosing accuracy, mixing quality, pressure, flow, and other operational processes.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and process‑related issues.
- Document test results and any corrective actions with clarity and precision.
- Work closely with Engineering, Assembly, and Service teams.
- Support customer demonstration visits to the factory and on site at customer premises.
- Ensure machines meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
- Assist with commissioning preparation and release for shipment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing procedures and machine performance.
- Mechanical, electrical and process engineering knowledge; mechanical bias preferred.
- Basic understanding of PLC‑controlled systems (beneficial).
- Experience with industrial machinery, automation systems, or testing environments.
- Knowledge of mixing, dosing, pumps, valves, sensors, or fluid‑handling systems (advantageous).
- Confidence in dealing with customers and leading demonstrations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Strong hands‑on troubleshooting skills and a structured, methodical work approach.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Comfortable working in laboratory and production environments.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
