Phlebotomy
A phlebotomist plays a key part in the smooth running of patient care. Their primary role is to collect blood samples safely, accurately, and with as much comfort as possible for the patient. This includes identifying the correct tests, preparing the equipment, confirming patient details, and ensuring samples are labelled and handled properly so they reach the laboratory in good condition.,
They also help manage the flow of patients by organising appointments, maintaining infection control standards, and reassuring individuals who may be anxious about having blood taken. In many practices, phlebotomists support the clinical team by spotting issues that may need clinical attention, such as difficulties finding a vein or unexpected symptoms during a procedure.
This role will work across 3 local practices:
Rushden Medical Centre, County Surgery and Brook Medical Centre
