Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) – PRN / As-Needed –

As a PRN Surgical Nurse, you will provide safe, effective perioperative nursing care in one or more operating room units on an as-needed basis. You will support surgical procedures from pre-op through post-op, ensuring proper aseptic technique, maintaining specialty equipment, and promoting patient safety and comfort. This role is ideal for an experienced RN seeking flexibility while remaining engaged in high-quality surgical care.

• Provide comprehensive perioperative care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
• Maintain sterile fields, instruments, and surgical supplies in accordance with AORN standards
• Assist anesthesia and surgical teams before, during, and after procedures
• Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts and ensure proper specimen handling
• Support surgeon preferences and maintain accurate preference cards
• Serve as a resource for staff and nursing students as needed
• Promote patient safety and adhere to infection control and hospital protocols

• Licensure: Current RN license with the Alabama Board of Nursing
• Certifications: Must complete hospital-based ACLS and PALS
• Experience: Minimum of 3 months nursing experience preferred; OR experience strongly preferred
