The Pediatric Support Staff (Classroom & Nutrition Support) supports classroom coverage and meal service to ensure a safe, high-quality early childhood environment while maintaining licensing and USDA compliance. This is a safety-sensitive role requiring flexibility, teamwork, and a commitment to providing safe, consistent care for all children.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Treats children, families, and guests as a top priority, demonstrating excellent customer service at all times.
- Fills in classrooms as needed, including serving as a substitute teacher and providing lunch and courtesy breaks according to staffing schedules.
- Directly supervises children at all times, ensuring safety and compliance with licensing requirements.
- Actively engages with children through developmentally appropriate interactions and activities.
- Assures Quality Standards of Care for Early Childhood programs are met.
- Supports classroom practices that align with Arkansas Department of Education CLASS Observation expectations, promoting positive interactions and high-quality learning environments.
- Maintains DHS/ABC and DDS staff-to-child ratios and reports any out-of-ratio situations immediately to a supervisor.
- Stays informed of each child’s record in Credible to ensure only authorized individuals pick up children.
- Collects Work Sampling and Ounce data on assigned ABC/ABCSS children, as applicable.
- Assists with implementation of plans of care by following FCC procedures for data collection and completing quality daily progress notes in Credible.
- Completes all required documentation and progress notes accurately and in a timely manner.
- Works cooperatively with parents, therapists, and staff to promote a positive and productive environment.
- Assists with and attends parent functions and special events as scheduled.
- Assists with food preparation, meal service, and inventory management as directed by supervisor.
- Prepares meals and snacks in compliance with USDA regulations and licensing requirements.
- Maintains accurate meal counts, portion sizes, and required USDA documentation; submits reports to the Program Director.
- Prepares afternoon snacks on carts and assists with classroom food service as needed.
- Maintains inventory of food and kitchen supplies; assists with ordering and restocking.
- Unpacks and properly stores delivered food and supplies.
- Ensures kitchen, food storage, and service areas remain clean, organized, and inspection-ready at all times.
- Reports any suspected abuse or neglect to a supervisor immediately after discovery.
- Follows FCC Policies and Procedures, DHS Handbook requirements, and all applicable licensing regulations.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information related to Friendship Community Care, Inc., children, and families in compliance with HIPAA and FCC Non-Disclosure policies.
- Maintains current certifications in Infant/Toddler CPR, First Aid, and Infection Control; serves as First Responder for Preschool as assigned.
- Accurately completes and submits timesheets in Pay Com reflecting all hours worked.
- Actively participates in weekly, monthly, and annual staff meetings.
- Attends all required training activities as mandated by Administration, licensing agencies, or supervisor.
- Completes required annual professional development hours:
Minimum of 15 hours annually for Early Childhood staff;
Minimum of 30 hours annually for staff working in ABC/ABCSS classrooms;
Minimum of 12 hours annually related to food service responsibilities, as applicable. - Performs additional duties as assigned, including but not limited to car rider duty, morning care, aftercare, bus loading/unloading, and classroom support.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and a minimum of one to three years of experience in food service.
