Job Summary
The Manager in Training is responsible for assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager for overall operations and administrative duties. The role ensures store goals, policies, and customer excellence are upheld. It requires knowledge across all departments, supervisory control in the absence of the Store Manager, and a commitment to drive sales, merchandising, and team performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett.
- Consult with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to establish action plans for sales, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility of the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Keep the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Produce and give extraordinary customer service highlighted in the customer service manual, including helping customers as they enter the store and helping multiple customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett policy manuals, operations, personnel, visual, and customer service procedures.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risk.
- Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities per company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, and resolving problems.
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail with ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
- Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
