Senior Financial Accountant

Our client, a leading diversified mining group, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join their dynamic team in Rustenburg, North West, ZA . This is a pivotal role within the finance department, offering the opportunity to contribute significantly to the financial health and strategic planning of the organization. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, supporting complex financial analysis, and driving process improvements within the accounting function.

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local statutory requirements.
• Manage the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring efficient cash flow management.
• Conduct detailed variance analysis and provide insightful commentary on financial performance against budget and forecast.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
• Support external audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in accounting procedures.
• Mentor and guide junior accounting staff.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial accounting, preferably within the mining or industrial sector.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African accounting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
