Our client, a well?established company in the Heavy Steel Construction sector, is urgently seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Rustenburg. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and numerical ability, experience in fabrication or SMPP environments, and the ability to support project costing, measurements, and contract administration.
This role is suited to a detail?oriented, organised individual who is eager to grow within a high?performance engineering and construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Costing & Estimating
- Assist with preparation of cost estimates and project budgets
- Measure quantities from drawings and fabrication plans
- Support tender preparation and pricing
Project Measurement & Documentation
- Conduct site measurements and verify quantities
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and progress claims
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records
Contract Administration
- Assist with contract management and variation orders
- Track project costs, materials, and labour usage
- Support preparation of payment certificates
Client & Contractor Coordination
- Liaise with clients, engineers, and workshop teams
- Attend site meetings and provide progress updates
- Ensure accurate communication between workshop and project teams
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare cost reports and project summaries
- Monitor project progress against budgets
- Identify cost variances and assist with corrective actions
Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying (advantageous)
- 1–3 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor (preferably in SMPP or fabrication)
- Experience in heavy steel construction is highly advantageous
Skills & Competencies
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and report?writing skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficient in MS Excel and relevant QS software
