Our client is seeking an experienced Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their team and work directly on-site at a mining operation in Rustenburg
.
This role requires someone with genuine hands-on mining QS experience who is comfortable managing day-to-day quantity surveying and commercial responsibilities with limited supervision.
Important:No accommodation or relocation assistance is provided. Candidates outside the area must be willing to relocate or commute at their own cost.
The start date of 1 November 2026 is firm.
Key Performance Areas:- Conduct site measurements and verify completed work.
- Prepare and review BOQs, cost estimates, budgets and cost plans.
- Assess contractor valuations, progress claims and payment applications.
- Manage variations, additional works and commercial changes.
- Track project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Prepare cost reports, forecasts and financial updates.
- Review contractor and supplier quotations.
- Assist with tenders, commercial evaluations and procurement.
- Manage subcontractor and contractor commercial matters.
- Maintain accurate records for valuations, variations and claims.
- Assist with contractual correspondence and final accounts.
- Attend site, commercial and progress meetings.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
- Report regularly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready QS documentation.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying.
- Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying.
- Approximately 5–8 years’ Quantity Surveying experience.
- Substantial practical mining experience is essential.
- Hands‑on experience performing QS functions within a mining/project environment.
- Experience with DimX and WinQS.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting skills.
- SACQSP registration or progress towards professional registration will be advantageous.
Experience:
- Candidates must have direct experience working on mining projects.
- Strong understanding of quantity surveying within an active mining environment.
- Ability to manage QS responsibilities independently on-site.
- Experience dealing with contractors, suppliers and client representatives.
