About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished and inspiring leader to serve as the Head of Department for English at a leading secondary school in Rustenburg . This senior leadership position involves overseeing the English faculty, curriculum development, and the academic progress of students in English language and literature. You will be instrumental in setting high standards for teaching and learning, fostering a dynamic department culture, and ensuring students achieve excellence in their linguistic and literary studies.
This is a critical role for an experienced educator ready to take on significant leadership responsibilities within a respected institution.
- Lead, manage, and mentor the English department staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Develop and implement an innovative and effective English curriculum aligned with national educational standards.
- Oversee student assessment and academic progress within the department, identifying areas for improvement.
- Promote a love for literature and language among students through engaging programs and activities.
- Manage departmental resources, including budget allocation and material procurement.
- Master's degree in English, Literature, or a related field, coupled with a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE).
- A minimum of 8 years of teaching experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or HOD role.
- Demonstrated success in curriculum design and implementation for English language and literature .
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to motivate students and staff towards achieving academic excellence.
