About the Role

Our client, a prominent high school in Rustenburg , is seeking an accomplished and visionary Head of Department for Physical Sciences . This leadership position is responsible for overseeing the curriculum, teaching staff, and academic performance of the Physical Sciences department. The ideal candidate will be passionate about science education, possess strong leadership capabilities, and be dedicated to fostering a culture of scientific inquiry and excellence among students and educators in the North West province.

• Lead and manage the Physical Sciences department, including curriculum development, resource allocation, and staff supervision.
• Ensure the effective delivery of physics, chemistry, and general science subjects across all grade levels.
• Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and academic achievement in science.
• Mentor and support department teachers, providing professional development opportunities and conducting performance reviews.
• Oversee the implementation of laboratory practicals and ensure the safe and effective use of science equipment and facilities.
• Collaborate with other department heads and the school administration to achieve overall school objectives.

• A Bachelor's degree in Science (Physics or Chemistry) and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 7 years of teaching experience in Physical Sciences, with at least 3 years in a leadership or HOD role.
• Proven experience in curriculum design, implementation, and assessment for Physical Sciences.
• Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff towards academic excellence.
• Thorough knowledge of national curriculum frameworks and examination requirements for Physical Sciences.
