Technical Superintendent: D2 will co-ordinate, facilitate and liaise on a tactical level regarding electrical services.
COMPETENCIES:- Legislative and Mine standards knowledge
- Knowledge of maintenance standards and quality
- Knowledge of SAP procedure
- Knowledge of an Energy Management Software system (ei Enterprise or equivalent)
- Knowledge of the South African Distribution Code - Network Code
- Knowledge of the NRS
048 Code - Knowledge of SANS Codes for Low Voltage and Medium Voltage installations
- Facilitates a five-year maintenance management strategy for the operation and assists in addressing all key elements of the asset care strategy using the KPI's.
- Co-ordinates and manages all activities of the Electrical Operations Department.
- Co-ordinates and manages all existing service contracts, initiates and is actively involved in the establishment of new contracts as and when required.
- Manages, organises and improves the extended surface electrical network and infrastructure for Impala to suit the current and future requirements as they may arise.
- Manages the ei Enterprise Energy Management Software System and all associated field infrastructure utilised in Impala.
- Drafts technical specifications, standards and safe work procedures.
- Manages electrical distribution protection scheme, grading and metering
- Liaise with Eskom for maintenance outages, protection scheme coordination and network event investigations.
- Interfaces with shafts management to determine any electrical distribution network requirements and advises on the provision of such.
- Supplies a high level of technical advice on electrical standards and equipment in use at Impala.
- Conducts regular research on new electrical distribution trends and equipment and analyses their benefits for Impala.
- Conducts factory acceptance tests, onsite acceptance and commissioning of medium voltage equipment
- Liaises with other Departments as well as sister companies within Impala Platinum Holdings to standardised /improve all forms of telecommunications within the group.
- Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation.
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
- Participates in the drafting and review of mine electrical standards, procedures and safe work practices.
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent is essential
- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering is essential
- Electrical Trade is essential
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a qualified Medium Voltage electrician is essential
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory position is essential
- Minimum 3 years in a Medium Voltage (6.6kV to 33kV) protection and switch gear testing is essential
