Program / Project Manager, Operations Manager
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To provide a detailed project management service to the organisation through ensuring the safe and effective implementation of projects in line with approved project plans and scope (resourcing).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:- Engineering Degree or NQF 7 equivalent is essential
- Business Management degree or NQF 7 equivalent is desirable
- 10 years engineering experience is essential.
- 10 years project management experience is essential.
- Project Management methodology and best practices, including systems
- Understanding of construction projects
- Manages related projects with regards to time, cost, quality and safety up to operational handover.
- Conducts feasibility studies under the supervision of the Senior Projects Manager.
- Develops and maintains appropriate project management systems including documentation and controls aligned to best practice.
- Sources and plans projects effectively to ensure timeous delivery on projects against the planned project schedule.
- Participates in project planning and estimations, including the allocations of funds.
- Responsible for site construction management, commissioning, handover and close‑out.
- Conducts detailed risk assessments with the allocation Engineer.
- Manages the authorisation/approval process of projects, working closely with Engineering, Maintenance and Planning to ensure alignment to long‑term planning and budget.
- Identifies capabilities of potential service providers/contractors to deliver on specific projects for referral/recommendation to Supply Chain to ensure the appropriate appointment of the relevant service provider.
- Maintains a ranking of potential projects, including the management of the capturing and categorisation of project ideas.
- Ensures optimisation of project delivery through project prioritisation, identifies and manages inter‑project dependencies and resource allocation.
- Ensures continuity of standards across all projects, ensuring appropriate monitoring of performance and the conducting of quality reviews.
- Identifies, captures and addresses common issues and risks impacting on delivery and documents authorised changes to projects.
- Maximises client project ownership by providing effective systems/processes which will promote/enable effective management of projects in line with project management standards.
- Manages project close‑out and post‑implementation review processes to ensure effective completion following project handover.
