PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To manage and control staff in the survey section to provide an effective and cost‑efficient survey service to production units.
- Grade 12/NQF Level 4 is essential
- Minerals Surveying Degree or NQF 7 Equivalent is desirable
- Mine Survey Certificate of Competence is essential
- 4-6 Years Survey Experience is essential
- 2 Years MRM Experience is essential
- Excellent Excel, MS Word & PowerPoint skills (Level
3) - The successful candidate must have a valid medical certificate or be medically fit to obtain one
- Good communication skills (Fluent in English)
- SAP
- Report writing & minute taking skills
- Analytical skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of relevant technical services, i.e. geology, rock engineering and ventilation
- Relevant legislation, i.e. Mine Health and Safety Act, Water Act, Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, etc.
- Mine surveying Codes of Practice and Standards
- Ensures compliance with relevant Acts and Regulations.
- Ensures effective communication with management and subordinates.
- Ensures effective research, investigation, reporting and recommendation.
- Ensures effective auditing, mentoring and coaching of subordinates.
- Ensures timely and accurate feedback of management requests.
- Manages and maintains costs within budget and maintain an effective inventory.
- Identifies and recommends initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity and reducing operating costs within scope and assists with the implementation thereof to contribute to the achievement of operational objectives.
- Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non‑compliance.
- Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
