Technical Sales Engineer – Underground Mining

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with underground mining customers.
• Promote and sell engineering equipment, components, and technical solutions to mines and mining contractors.
• Conduct regular customer visits to underground mining operations and head offices.
• Prepare technical proposals, quotations, and tenders.
• Interpret customer requirements and recommend suitable engineering solutions.
• Deliver product presentations and technical demonstrations.
• Work closely with engineering, production, and service teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Provide after-sales support and resolve technical queries.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and new business opportunities.
• Achieve sales targets while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Compile sales reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates.
• Travel extensively to customer sites across South Africa and neighbouring countries when required.

• National Diploma, BTech, or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering qualification.
• 3–8 years' experience in a Technical Sales Engineer or Sales Engineer role.
• Proven experience selling engineering products or equipment into the underground mining sector.
• Strong exposure to underground mining operations and mining production environments.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience preparing quotations, tenders, and technical proposals.
• Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
