Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Mining & Energy

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their operations team in Rustenburg . This role is crucial for assessing and managing ground conditions related to mining and energy infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for conducting detailed site investigations, analyzing soil and rock mechanics, and providing engineering solutions to ensure the stability and safety of foundations, slopes, and underground excavations.

The successful candidate will lead geotechnical investigations and contribute to the risk management of complex engineering challenges within the mining and energy sectors .

• Plan and oversee geotechnical investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock properties to assess bearing capacity, settlement, and slope stability.
• Design foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks for mining and energy facilities.
• Provide expert advice on ground improvement techniques and mitigation of geotechnical risks.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and recommendations for project stakeholders.
• Ensure all geotechnical work adheres to relevant industry standards and safety regulations.

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong background in the mining and energy industries .
• Expertise in foundation design, slope stability analysis, and ground hazard assessment.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, or similar.
• Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects and site investigations.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
