Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Mining and Energy

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the mining and energy sectors , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team based in Rustenburg . This role is crucial for ensuring the stability and safety of large-scale mining operations and associated energy infrastructure. You will be responsible for conducting detailed geotechnical investigations, providing expert advice on foundation design, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques.

• Conduct comprehensive geotechnical investigations for new and existing mining and energy infrastructure projects.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to assess stability of excavations, slopes, and foundations.
• Develop geotechnical design recommendations for tunnels, shafts, dams, and surface facilities.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, specifications, and drawings for engineering projects.
• Oversee field investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing programs.
• Provide expert technical advice and support to project teams, construction personnel, and clients.

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on mining support and large infrastructure.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Expertise in numerical modeling software (e.g., FLAC, Plaxis) for geotechnical analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant South African geological conditions and engineering codes.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills.
