About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Aviation Safety Officer to contribute to the safety culture and operational integrity within their Rustenburg facility. This role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing safety management systems to ensure compliance with all national and international aviation safety regulations. You will work closely with operational teams, conduct audits, and investigate incidents to identify areas for improvement and mitigate risks.
The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and deeply committed to fostering a secure environment in the aviation sector, balancing office-based strategic planning with on-site operational oversight.
- Develop and implement safety management systems (SMS) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities, operations, and equipment.
- Investigate aviation incidents and accidents, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Promote safety awareness through training programs and communication initiatives for all personnel.
- Monitor compliance with safety policies and procedures, identifying and reporting any non-conformities.
- Maintain safety records and prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies.
- Proven experience in an Aviation Safety role or similar position.
- In-depth knowledge of aviation safety regulations (e.g., ICAO standards, SA CAA regulations).
- Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS) implementation and auditing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct thorough investigations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Relevant aviation qualification or certification (e.g., safety management course).
