Senior Aviation Safety Officer

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Aviation Safety Officer to enhance safety management systems within their operations based in Rustenburg . This role is crucial for maintaining and improving safety standards across all aviation activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a strong safety culture. You will be responsible for implementing and overseeing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and leading safety initiatives.

• Develop, implement, and manage the organization’s Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) in line with ICAO and local regulatory standards.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification across all operational areas.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, determining root causes and implementing effective corrective and preventative actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff to promote a strong safety culture.
• Monitor safety performance metrics and provide regular reports to senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Act as a primary point of contact for safety-related matters and liaise with aviation authorities and external auditors.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation safety management, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of ICAO Annex 19, SA-CAA regulations, and Safety Management Systems principles.
• Proven experience in conducting risk assessments , hazard analysis, and incident investigations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Relevant aviation safety qualifications or certifications (e.g., Safety Management Systems training).
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a demanding operational environment in Rustenburg .
