Principal Electrical Engineer - Mining Infrastructure

• Provide senior-level technical direction and oversight for all electrical engineering aspects of mining projects.
• Develop and review electrical designs for power distribution, substations, heavy mining equipment, and ventilation systems.
• Ensure electrical infrastructure designs meet stringent safety regulations, environmental standards, and operational requirements in Rustenburg, North West

• Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex electrical issues impacting mining operations.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical audits for new and existing electrical systems.
• Mentor and develop junior and mid-level electrical engineers, fostering technical excellence within the team.
• Collaborate with project management, operations, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.
• Specify and procure electrical equipment and materials, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Stay abreast of advancements in mining technology and electrical engineering practices relevant to the sector.
• Champion the implementation of innovative electrical solutions to enhance safety, productivity, and sustainability.

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 10-12 years of extensive experience in electrical engineering, with at least 6 years specifically within the mining industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in mine electrical systems, including high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) distribution, VFDs, and motor control.
• Proficiency in relevant electrical design and simulation software.
• In-depth knowledge of mining regulations and safety standards in South Africa.
• Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting technical information to diverse audiences.
• Experience with mine automation and SCADA systems is highly advantageous.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
