Structural Engineer - Mining and Industrial Projects

Our client, a prominent engineering firm specializing in the mining and industrial sectors, is looking for a dedicated Structural Engineer to join their team in Rustenburg . This role involves the structural design and analysis of various facilities, including processing plants, material handling systems, and associated infrastructure within the demanding environment of the North West province. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, a meticulous approach to design, and the ability to work effectively on complex projects.

• Perform structural analysis and design for new construction and modifications to existing facilities in mining and industrial settings.
• Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations using relevant software.
• Ensure structural designs comply with South African National Standards (SANS), building codes, and industry-specific regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and process engineers.
• Conduct site inspections and assessments to verify design integrity and construction quality.
• Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams and site personnel.
• Review structural designs prepared by external consultants and contractors.
• Manage project deliverables related to structural engineering, ensuring timely completion.
• Assess structural integrity of existing assets and recommend remedial actions.
• Contribute to risk assessments and safety planning for projects.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr. Eng is mandatory.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering, with significant exposure to mining or heavy industrial projects.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP
  2000, ETABS, or STAAD.Pro.
• Strong knowledge of steel and concrete design principles according to SANS codes.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and project specifications accurately.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and contractors.
• Previous experience working in or with industries in the Rustenburg area or the North West province is highly valued.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
