Process Safety Engineer - Mining Chemicals

Our client, a major supplier of specialized chemicals to the mining industry, is looking for a dedicated and experienced Process Safety Engineer to join their facility in

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs aligned with industry standards and regulations.
• Conduct thorough Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA studies, for new and existing processes.
• Oversee the management of change (MOC) process, ensuring all modifications to processes and equipment are assessed for safety implications.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to employees and contractors.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant local and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Develop and maintain safety critical equipment (SCE) lists and mechanical integrity programs.
• Act as a subject matter expert on process safety for capital projects and operational improvements.
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
• Maintain process safety information (PSI) documentation, including P&IDs, operating procedures, and hazard assessments.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience specifically focused on process safety engineering in the chemical or mining industry.
• Proven experience in conducting and facilitating HAZOP studies and other risk assessment methodologies.
• In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles and standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP).
• Familiarity with the chemical hazards associated with mining operations.
• Strong understanding of engineering design principles and equipment reliability.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or equivalent certification is preferred.
• Experience with incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
