Animation Supervisor - 3D Character Animation

Our client, a prestigious animation studio renowned for its captivating storytelling and breathtaking visuals, is seeking an experienced Animation Supervisor to lead their 3D character animation team in Rustenburg, North West, ZA

This leadership role is instrumental in guiding the artistic and technical execution of character performances, ensuring they are emotionally resonant, believable, and aligned with the project's overall vision. You will mentor animators, set animation quality standards, and collaborate closely with directors and other department leads to deliver exceptional animated content for feature films and high-end projects. The ideal candidate is a seasoned animator with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of character performance, and a passion for creating unforgettable animated characters.

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of 3D character animators to achieve the highest standards of performance and quality.
• Oversee the animation process from blocking to final polish, ensuring character performances are compelling and meet artistic goals.
• Collaborate with the Director and Art Director to define and maintain the animation style and character personalities.
• Provide clear, constructive, and timely feedback to animators on their work.
• Work closely with rigging, modeling, and layout departments to ensure smooth integration of animated characters.
• Troubleshoot animation challenges and develop solutions to enhance character movement and expression.
• Manage animation schedules and ensure timely delivery of shots.
• Contribute to the overall creative development and storytelling of the project through animation.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in 3D character animation, with at least 3 years in a Lead or Supervisor role within feature film or high-end animation production.
• Exceptional portfolio showcasing a strong understanding of acting, posing, timing, weight, and character performance.
• Expert proficiency in industry-standard animation software such as Maya.
• Deep knowledge of character rigging and its impact on animation performance.
• Strong understanding of storytelling principles and cinematic composition.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to provide effective creative direction and motivate a team.
• Passion for animation and a keen eye for detail and quality.
