Exploration High School (ExHS) is inviting proposals for custodial and cleaning services for the 2026–2027 school year.
Scope of Services Requested- Nightly cleaning schedule for all classrooms and shared spaces.
- Service Monday through Friday, every evening, after school dismissal.
- Cleaning to be performed when the building is unoccupied by students and most staff.
- Provider must coordinate scheduling and any building‑access procedures with school leadership.
- Classroom Cleaning
- Empty trash and recycling bins; replace liners as needed.
- Wipe down and sanitize desks, tables, and high‑touch surfaces (door handles, light switches).
- Sweep, dust‑mop, and/or vacuum classroom floors.
- Spot‑clean spills, smudges, and marks on walls, doors, and floors.
- Tidy and reset rooms to a ready‑for‑students condition.
- Shared & Common Area Cleaning
- Hallways, entryways, stairwells, and lobby areas: sweep, mop, vacuum, and spot‑clean as needed.
- Restrooms: clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, mirrors, fixtures, and floors; restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Cafeteria, kitchen‑adjacent areas, and student commons: clean tables, chairs, and floors.
- Staff lounge, main office, and meeting/conference rooms: empty all trash and recycling receptacles; transport to designated removal point.
- Periodic & Deep Cleaning
- Carpet and hard‑floor deep cleaning on a periodic schedule (e.g., quarterly or as proposed).
- Detailed restroom deep cleaning on a periodic schedule.
- Additional deep cleaning during school breaks, including summer turnover prep.
- Supplies & Equipment
- Provider should specify whether cleaning products, paper goods, and trash liners are included or billed separately.
- Use of EPA‑registered, school‑appropriate, low‑VOC, and non‑toxic cleaning products where possible.
- Provider supplies all cleaning equipment (vacuums, mops, etc.) unless otherwise agreed.
- Building Information
- Address: 2620 Russell Ave N, Minneapolis, MN 55411.
- Approximately 12 classrooms, cafeteria, gym, and 3 shared spaces. Two floors of hallways.
- Typical occupancy: ~150 students, ~18 staff.
- Walk‑throughs of the facility can be scheduled prior to proposal submission; please contact Mary Wenstrom to arrange a visit.
- Fully licensed and insured to operate in the state of Minnesota.
- General liability insurance with minimums acceptable to the school; proof of workers’ compensation coverage.
- All cleaning staff must pass background checks and be authorized to work in school buildings.
- All staff working in the building must comply with applicable school safety, visitor, and reporting protocols.
- Provider must adhere to OSHA standards and all applicable safety and health regulations.
- Strong communication protocols for issues, schedule changes, missed services, and emergencies.
- Ability to accommodate occasional schedule adjustments around school events, breaks, and holidays.
- Company profile and experience cleaning schools, charter schools, or comparable facilities.
- Description of cleaning protocols, products used, and quality‑control practices.
- Staffing plan: number of cleaners per shift, supervisor structure, and approach to staff continuity.
- Pricing structure (monthly flat rate, hourly rate, additional/deep‑cleaning rates, supply pricing if applicable).
- Sample contract or service agreement.
- References from other school or institutional clients (preferably charter, alternative, or K–12 schools).
- Proof of insurance, licensing, and compliance with Minnesota regulations.
- Background‑check policy for cleaning staff.
- Proposals due:
June 12, 2026. - Final decision communicated:
June 30, 2026. - Services begin:
August 2026.
