PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To support the Explosive Practitioners and ensure legal compliance, continuous improvement, and the effectiveness of the Explosive Management System.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:- Blasting Ticket/Rock Breakers certificate of competency is essential.
- 3 years experience as a Production miner is advantageous.
- Any other Technical Training or Supervisory experience within the mining environment desirable
- In-depth knowledge of all relevant SHE legislation (Occupational Health and Safety, Mine Health and Safety, Explosives Act) is essential.
- Must have a valid medical certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate.
- Must have coaching skills
- Must have an observation skill
- Computer literacy is essential
- Incident investigation is essential
- Must have auditing and reporting skills
- Supervisory skill is essential
- To ensure effective legal compliance and governance regarding explosives as stipulated in the explosive regulation and Mine Health and Safety Act including explosive Mining Standards and Procedures.
- To audit effectiveness and compliance of explosives control systems.
- To ensure effective monitoring and coaching of the Shaft Explosive Receivers.
- To ensure effective monitoring and coaching of underground fuse issuers and miners
- To ensure adherence to legal requirements regarding issuing and distribution of explosives.
- To conduct periodic full discipline audits and procedural reviews of all protocols pertaining to explosives and submit relevant audit reports as per organisational and legal requirement.
- To timeously submit audit report to the Explosive Practitioners
