About the Role
Our client seeks a knowledgeable and passionate Horticulturist to manage and develop their specialized horticultural operations near Rustenburg . This role involves the cultivation, care, and management of a diverse range of plants, ensuring optimal growth, health, and aesthetic appeal. You will be responsible for planning planting schedules, managing soil health, implementing pest and disease control measures, and overseeing garden maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific understanding of plant physiology, soil science, and horticultural best practices, combined with practical experience. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and maintain beautiful, productive green spaces in the North West province.
- Plan, plant, and maintain diverse horticultural collections, ensuring optimal growing conditions.
- Develop and implement integrated pest and disease management strategies.
- Manage soil fertility, irrigation, and fertilization programs for various plant species.
- Prune, train, and propagate plants as needed, utilizing advanced horticultural techniques.
- Supervise and train gardening staff, ensuring high standards of horticultural care and safety.
- Conduct regular inspections to monitor plant health, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Degree or diploma in Horticulture, Botany, or a related field.
- Proven practical experience in horticultural management, preferably in a large-scale or specialized setting.
- In-depth knowledge of plant identification, physiology, and cultivation requirements.
- Experience with plant propagation, soil science, and pest/disease control methods.
- Ability to operate and maintain horticultural equipment and tools.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in Rustenburg .
