Research Chemist - Pharmaceutical Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Research Chemist to join their dynamic pharmaceutical development division in Rustenburg . This role is essential for the synthesis, characterization, and formulation of new drug candidates. You will play a key role in advancing our client's pipeline, working in state-of-the-art laboratory facilities. • Synthesize novel organic compounds for drug discovery and development programs.
• Perform comprehensive characterization of synthesized compounds using analytical techniques such as NMR, MS, and HPLC.
• Develop and optimize synthetic routes and purification methods for key intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
• Collaborate with pharmacologists and formulation scientists to evaluate compound efficacy and stability.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and contribute to the preparation of technical reports and patent applications.

• PhD or Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in synthetic organic chemistry , preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in multi-step synthesis, purification, and structural elucidation of complex organic molecules.
• Proficiency with modern analytical instrumentation and techniques.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a meticulous approach to experimental work in pharmaceutical development .
