About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and enthusiastic Research Assistant to support their dynamic Biotechnology research team based in Rustenburg . This hands-on role involves direct involvement in laboratory experiments, assisting senior scientists in their daily research activities. You will gain invaluable experience in a variety of experimental techniques, contributing to projects focused on developing novel biopharmaceutical products. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and passionate about contributing to scientific discovery within a collaborative laboratory setting.
This position requires a strong commitment to laboratory safety and protocol adherence.
- Perform a variety of laboratory experiments under the guidance of senior researchers, including cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, and basic molecular assays.
- Prepare reagents, media, and solutions according to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and records.
- Operate and maintain common laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and calibration.
- Assist in the organization and inventory of laboratory supplies and samples.
- Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace.
- Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Previous laboratory experience, preferably in an academic or industry research setting.
- Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and work effectively within a team.
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety procedures.
