Our client is seeking a distinguished Principal Chemist with a profound background in Polymer Synthesis to join their esteemed research and development division based in Rustenburg . • Lead the design and execution of complex polymer synthesis projects, exploring novel monomers and polymerization techniques.
• Develop and optimize synthetic pathways to achieve specific polymer properties and functionalities.
• Conduct in-depth analysis and characterization of synthesized polymers using advanced techniques (e.g., GPC, NMR, DSC, TGA).
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior chemists and research assistants in the Rustenburg laboratory.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate laboratory discoveries into scalable manufacturing processes.
• Maintain a deep understanding of current literature and patent landscapes in polymer chemistry and related fields.

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive research experience in polymer synthesis , with a strong publication record.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex research projects and manage scientific teams effectively.
• Expertise in various polymerization techniques, including free radical, controlled/living polymerization, and condensation polymerization.
• Proficiency in polymer characterization methods and interpretation of analytical data.
