Senior Biochemist - Drug Development

Our client is looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Biochemist to join their cutting-edge Drug Development division in Rustenburg . This role is central to the preclinical evaluation of new therapeutic agents, focusing on their biochemical properties and mechanism of action. You will be responsible for designing and conducting a wide array of biochemical assays, analyzing results, and providing critical data to guide the drug development pipeline.

• Design, develop, and validate biochemical assays to characterize drug candidates and their targets.
• Investigate enzyme kinetics, protein-ligand interactions, and other biochemical pathways relevant to disease.
• Perform high-throughput screening (HTS) assays and analyze the resulting data to identify promising leads.
• Contribute to the development of preclinical research strategies and experimental plans.
• Interpret complex biochemical data and prepare comprehensive reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate closely with chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists to integrate biochemical findings into the broader R&D strategy.

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related life science discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience in drug discovery or biochemical research.
• Extensive experience with various biochemical and biophysical techniques, including spectroscopy, chromatography, and calorimetry.
• Proficiency in designing and executing assays for enzyme activity, binding affinity, and signal transduction.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team in Rustenburg .
