Principal AI Ethicist

Our client, a forward-thinking organization at the forefront of AI & Emerging Technologies , is seeking a highly accomplished and influential Principal AI Ethicist. This senior role will be based in our innovative hub located in Rustenburg, North West . You will be pivotal in shaping the ethical development and deployment of artificial intelligence systems across the company. This position requires a deep understanding of ethical frameworks, societal impacts of AI, and regulatory landscapes.

• Develop and implement comprehensive AI ethics policies, guidelines, and best practices for the organization.
• Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for AI projects and products.
• Advise AI development teams, product managers, and leadership on ethical considerations and mitigation strategies.
• Stay abreast of global AI ethics regulations, standards, and emerging research.
• Design and deliver AI ethics training programs for employees across various departments.
• Engage with external stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, and community groups, on AI ethics issues.
• Contribute to the responsible design and governance of AI systems, ensuring fairness, transparency, accountability, and privacy.
• Champion a culture of ethical awareness and responsible innovation throughout the organization.
• Research and articulate the societal implications of advanced AI technologies.

• Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Philosophy, Ethics, Law, Sociology, Public Policy, or a related field, with a specialization in technology ethics or AI ethics.
• Substantial experience (7+ years) working in AI ethics, responsible AI, or technology policy, preferably in a corporate or research setting.
• Deep understanding of ethical theories, frameworks, and methodologies applicable to AI.
• Familiarity with key AI technologies and their potential ethical challenges.
• Proven ability to translate complex ethical principles into practical guidance and actionable recommendations.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Outstanding communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience in designing and delivering educational content is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively and influence decision-making within a diverse team in Rustenburg, North West .
