Our client, a pioneering organization in the AI and emerging technologies sector, is seeking a dedicated AI Ethics & Governance Specialist to join their team in Rustenburg, North West
. In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing robust frameworks to ensure the responsible and ethical development and deployment of artificial intelligence technologies. You will play a key part in shaping policies, conducting assessments, and advising development teams to mitigate risks and promote fairness, transparency, and accountability in our AI systems. This position is integral to our client's commitment to ethical innovation and building trust with users and stakeholders.

The role is primarily based in our Rustenburg office, allowing for collaborative engagement with technical and legal teams, with a hybrid arrangement supporting flexibility. Your expertise will guide the company in navigating the complex ethical landscape of AI, ensuring compliance with emerging regulations and best practices. • Develop, implement, and maintain AI ethics policies, guidelines, and best practices.
• Conduct ethical risk assessments for AI projects and systems throughout their lifecycle.
• Advise AI development teams on ethical considerations, bias detection and mitigation strategies, and fairness metrics.
• Monitor AI systems for potential ethical issues, biases, and unintended consequences.
• Stay informed about global AI regulations, standards, and evolving ethical debates.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and engineering teams to ensure AI systems meet ethical and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and deliver training programs on AI ethics and responsible AI practices for internal stakeholders.
• Engage with external stakeholders, industry groups, and academic institutions on AI ethics topics.
• Contribute to the development of explainable AI (XAI) techniques and their governance.

• Master's or Ph.D. in Ethics, Philosophy, Law, Computer Science with an AI focus, or a related field.
• Demonstrated understanding of AI/ML principles and technologies.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing ethical frameworks, policies, or guidelines, preferably in technology.
• Knowledge of AI bias, fairness, accountability, transparency, and safety (FATS) principles.
• Familiarity with current and emerging AI regulations and standards (e.g., EU AI Act, NIST AI Risk Management Framework).
• Excellent analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex ethical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and influencing decision-making.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in risk management or compliance is a significant advantage.
