Red Ember Recruitment is currently recruiting for a client seeking an experienced Lowbed Driver
.
This role is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a lowbed truck for the transportation of heavy machinery, construction equipment, and oversized loads between sites, ensuring compliance with road safety regulations and company procedures.
Responsibilities- Operate lowbed truck to load, secure, transport, and offload heavy/ oversized equipment.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, ensuring roadworthiness.
- Ensure proper loading techniques, including correct use of chains, binders, and securing devices.
- Comply with traffic laws, road transport regulations, and permit requirements for abnormal loads.
- Complete delivery and collection documentation (logbooks, trip sheets, delivery notes).
- Monitor vehicle condition and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures at all times.
- Coordinate with site Supervisors, Diesel Mechanics, and logistics teams regarding delivery schedules.
- Assist in minor maintenance or adjustments to secure loads when necessary.

- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid Code 14 Driver’s License with PrDP (Professional Driving Permit)
- Minimum three to five years’ experience as a Lowbed or Heavy‑Duty truck Driver
- Knowledge of abnormal load transportation regulations
- Proven experience in transporting construction/mining/heavy equipment safely
- Knowledge of road traffic laws and abnormal load permit procedures
