Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Medical Wheelchair Van Driver is primarily responsible for transporting patients to and from locations for medical treatment, outside appointments, and as requested by the Communications Center and/or Transportation Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License with a clear driving history
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• Ability to listen and comprehend spoken/written words
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships
• Minimum age of twenty-one
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Must pass criminal background check

Education and Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• CPR Certification (within 30 days of employment)
• First Aid Certification (within 30 days of employment)
• Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (CEVO) (within 30 days of employment)

Physical Requirements

• Visual acuity meeting vision requirements as set by the Department/Division of Motor Vehicles
• Capability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly
• Ability to pull or push clients in a wheelchair up to 350 pounds
• Ability to perform essential functions safely and effectively, meeting ADA and other standards
• Regular, punctual attendance
• Occasional lifting/moving up to 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment
• Physical activity including sitting, lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching
• Clear communication skills
