Position SummaryThe Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for developing and implementing a Supplier Quality Program and ensuring all suppliers follow the process to drive production efficiency and minimize cost of poor supplier quality. This role offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and development as the SQE will work directly with global suppliers and collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Continuous Improvement to ensure best‑in‑class supplier quality for new product introduction and manufacturing.
The ideal candidate will have experience interacting with suppliers, leading through a supplier quality program, and driving continuous improvement.
- Responsible for the Supplier Quality Process.
- Collaborate with Quality Manager to develop and implement a Supplier Quality Program with KPIs and scorecards to track supplier quality.
- Work directly with Commodity managers on improving Supplier Quality performance and provide technical support.
- Responsible for Supplier Corrective Action Process (SCAR).
- Monitor system to prevent overdue actions.
- Work with suppliers on corrective actions and verification.
- Responsible for the Supplier Quality Approval Process (parts quality & process capability).
- Organize and conduct supplier audits.
- Responsible for the Material Review Board process.
- Implement and maintain metrics for receiving inspection and layout inspection.
- Work directly with suppliers to resolve non‑conformances.
- Develop and improve quality‑related processes related to Supplier Quality and verify and approve supplier changes.
- Sustainable performance improvements in Supplier Quality.
- Non‑conformance reduction.
- Corrective Action closure time.
- Receiving inspection reduction (time and defect rate).
- Experience and knowledge in the manufacturing and/or industrial industry.
- Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- Ability to utilize statistical methods and implement new designs/processes to reduce variation.
- Acts with a high level of personal integrity.
- Drives process discipline.
- Data‑driven problem solving.
- Experience with ERP systems (Oracle – JD Edwards preferred) and MS Office.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with site certifications such as ISO
9001 and ISO
14001.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 3‑5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on Quality.
- Experience in developing and/or managing Supplier Quality Programs and/or Supplier Development in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of GD&T methodology.
- Training in Design for Six Sigma concepts preferred.
- ASQ‑Certified Quality Engineers (CQE‑ASQ) certification is a plus.
- Move around and use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Noise level is minimal with occasional spikes.
- Office environment with occasional visits to the factory floor.
- Required to wear safety glasses and use other safety equipment on the shop floor.
The compensation range for this position is $94,600.00 – $, depending on experience. The position may be eligible for a performance‑based bonus plan.
