School Crossing Guard

Under general supervision, assists children to safely cross streets in a safe and orderly manner.

• Monitors traffic to determine safe crossing of students and pedestrians at designated crossing areas.
• Utilizes metal stop sign and proper hand signals to stop and control traffic.
• Adheres to regulations and guidelines governing school crossings.
• Monitors safety of pedestrians using assigned crosswalk.
• Reports problems with students, parents, strangers or traffic.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Knowledge of traffic regulations pertaining to school and pedestrian crossings.
• Knowledge of traffic control devices.
• Skill in working with the public, especially children.
• Skill in effective oral communication.
• No previous experience required.
