Assistant Professor - Department of Philosophy

Mount Allison University invites applications for a full‑time nine‑month sessional position as Lecturer or Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy.

Position:
Full‑time, nine‑month sessional; commencement on August 15 2026 (subject to budgetary approval). Teaching commitment: five undergraduate courses.

Teaching Responsibilities
  • Introductory Philosophy
  • Introductory Ethics
  • Year‑long Ancient Philosophy (6 credits)
  • Third‑year course on a research‑related topic (preferred focus on Ancient Philosophy)
Qualifications
  • Near completion of a PhD in Philosophy (or a completed PhD)
  • Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching
  • Promising research profile; experience or research interest in Ancient Philosophy preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to support departmental commitment to the history of philosophy
